In the present work, the experimental data designed by response surface method for the investigation the removal of propofol as a toxic drug from the hospital wastewater by using electrocoagulation technique# a central composite design (ccd) and anova were applied for the design and analysis of the experimental data, respectively# the quadratic model was derived by employing design-expert (v#10) software and the sum square error as the objective function which must to be minimized# propofol concentration was also measured by two various methods including hplc and uv-vis to show the accuracy of each methodology# to the best of our knowledge is to indicate that uv-vis can be used as a low cost method with negligible difference with hplc analysis to detect the propofol in the aqueous solutions# effect of the important variables encompassing ph of solution, electrode spacing, dosage of electrolyte and voltage was studied, results showed that the interaction between the ph-volatge and voltage-electrolyte dosage had the remarkable effect on the removal efficiency of propofol# the maximum removal efficiency was calculated to be 91#5%#
