Gas-fired power plants use liquid fuels such as mazut to prevent disruption to electricity production and offset gas shortages in some seasons# however, the presence of sulfur and nitrogen compounds in liquid fuels causes severe corrosion of equipment in addition to significant damage to the environment, major international penalties and rising costs# therefore, it is necessary to perform hydrogen desulfurization and hydrogen denitrogenization before using mazut in the power plants# the purpose of this study was to simulate and analyze the sensitivity of the mazut hydrocracking unit with a volumetric flow of 250 m3/h with 3#5 wt% sulfur in aspen hysys petroleum refining software to remove contaminants as well as to produce more valuable fuels such as naphta# the objective is to achieve the maximum naphtha production and the separation of sulfur compounds# in this simulation, the effect of operating parameters such as pressure, hydrogen-to-fuel ratio, temperature of the high-pressure separator, inlet temperature of the beds and finally the catalyst consumption were investigated# the results showed that by increasing the pressure, increasing the hydrogen-to-mazut ratio, increasing the catalyst consumption, increasing the inlet temperature of the beds and decreasing the temperature of the high-pressure separator, the rate of naphtha and sulfur production increase#
