چکیده    The aim of this research is to evaluate the effects of adsorbed stearic acid and oleic acid on the hydrophobicity of carbonyl iron# for this purpose, particles of carbonyl iron coated with stearic acid and oleic acid were synthesized in a special chamber during six hours# the coated particles were taken at two different intervals (after 3 and 6 hours )# then, the hydrophobicity of the prepared samples were compared with each other#the fesem analysis was used to observe the surface modification of the particles# the contact angle of the modified particles were also measured# the results showed that the static contact angle for the carbonyl iron without any additive was zero, while the cip@stearic acid showed an excellent super hydrophobicity with static contact angle of 162#9°# the static contact angle for the cip@oleic acid, on the other hand, was 156#2°# since hydrophobicity is an important feature for oil/water separation, obtaining high hydrophobicity of particles is considered as a remarkable achievement for the oil spills clean-up#
