In recent years, much attention has been paid to the desalination of natural water resources such as seawater in order to solve the water shortage problem# zif-8 membranes are known to be highly stable in aqueous environments and thus a suitable candidate for desalination process# in this study, zif-8 membranes were synthesized on the 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (aptes) modified α-alumina tubes using an in-situ solvothermal synthesis method for desalination by reverse osmosis# the synthesized membrane was characterized using x-ray diffraction (xrd), field emission scanning electron microscopy (fe-sem), n2 adsorption-desorption (bet) analysis# sodium chloride and calcium chloride feeds with different concentrations were used for desalination test# the rate of ions separation in the 0#3 m sodium chloride and calcium chloride feeds, at about 30 min of the process, was about 93% and 95%, respectively, as well as the permeability of the two feeds, on average, 25 and 13 kg#m-2#h-1 measured#
