preparation of pvc/pla ultrafiltration membrane with enhanced structural properties

In this work, polylactic acid (pla) as hydrophilic polymeric material has been used to improve the performance of poly(vinyl chloride) (pvc) membranes# the effect of the amount of pla on the pvc membrane properties was investigated# with the increase in the amount of the pla the membrane porosity and water uptake were increased# owing to the improved surface hydrophilicity (lower water contact angle), the pla/ pvc membranes also exhibited higher water flux than that of neat pvc membrane# the obtained results showed that pla is proper candidate to be used to modify pvc membrane, leading to enhanced water treatment process#
