Investigation of Polymeric Adsorbents For Heavy Metals Removing-A Short Review

Rapid industrial growth has led to the production and release of more organic and inorganicwastewater into the environment# due to the limited water resources in the world, the issue ofwater treatment is of great importance to the environment and human life# one of the mostcommon industrial pollutants is heavy metals that occur in various industries, especially powerplants, petroleum and petrochemical industries# therefore, the separation of heavy metals fromvarious wastewater has been considered by researchers and manufacturerer in recent years#adsorption is one of the most cost-effective methods for the removal of heavy metals# among themethods of adsorption, the use of polymeric adsorbents as a new topic has been widely interestedin recent years# in this paper, an overview study on the adsorption method using polymericadsorbents has been performed# the method of fabricating polymeric adsorbents and some casesof polymeric adsorbent composites for the removal of heavy metals as well as the biopolymeradsorbents have been collected# the results of the studies showed that polymeric adsorbents can beconsidered as good adsorbents for the removal of heavy metals due to their high contact surfacearea, controllable surface chemistry and proper mechanical strength#
