Some binary azeotrope mixtures lose azeotropic behavior when the system pressure changes# pressure swing distillation is a technique to separate azeotrope mixtures# in this study, the separation of a binary mixture of isobutyl alcohol (iba) and isobutyl acetate (ibac) was investigated by the psd method# the commercial software aspen hysys was used with the uniquac thermodynamic model# the appropriate operating pressure for each column was selected at 101 kpa and 20 kpa, respectively# the distilled product of the low-pressure column as a recycle stream has been returned to the mixer# eventually, the results showed that the purity of ibac and iba from the heavy stream of the high-pressure and low-pressure columns are 99#5% and 98#5%, respectively# to economic justification, reboiler heat duty was determined as an objective function# it was found that the reasonable purity for heavy streams of both columns are 80% and 91#5%#
