چکیده    Optimization of effective parameters in development of the oil reservoir is one of the most important measures that require continuous and accurate review of reservoir conditions# one of the many problems that may occur in the long period of oil production is the movement of lateral fluids such as water towards the perforated zone, which due to the shape of the fluid flow towards the well is called the coning phenomenon# this problem can be due to improper management of reservoir development such as increasing oil production rate in order to achieve more volume of oil in the early years of reservoir production# also because of the natural pressure drop in the reservoir, even with implementation of suitable program for production, it is possible to create such problem# in this paper, focusing on the coning phenomenon in the oil reservoir and the effective factors in creating this phenomenon are investigated and then the method of calculating the critical flow rate in oil production from the reservoir according to the reservoir conditions and fluid properties in the reservoir is introduced# also the separator design method for separation the water and gas produced due to coning was investigated and the optimal slenderness ratio to maximize the two phase separator efficiency at pressure of 2000 psia with the gas-oil ratio below 40 was set at 2#7 determined by cfd simulation#
