   Impact of Hydraulic Retention Time(Hrt) on Extracellular Polymeric Substances(Eps) Production and Membrane Fouling in High-Loaded Membrane Sequencing Batch Reactor

چکیده    In the present study, a high loaded membrane sequencing batch reactor (hl-msbr) operated at an srt of 2 days, and two different hrts(9 and 12 hr), was used for the treatment of synthetic wastewater# the cod removal efficiency of the system was acceptable at both hrts and hrt variation, in the range studies, did not have any effect on cod removal# the tmp variation indicated that the membrane fouling was more severe at hrt of 9hr compared to that of 12hr# the overall filtration resistance analysis showed that cake layer formation was the dominant fouling mechanism during both operating conditions, contributing to 58#6% and 81% of the total resistance for hrts of 12hr and 9hr, repectively# the concentrations of total extracellular polymeric substance (eps), soluble microbial products (smp), protein content of eps (epsp) and loosely bound eps content (lb-eps) increased with increasing hrt# variation in hrt did not have a significant effect on carbohydrate content# therefore, eps and smp, epsp and lb-eps are important parameters in membrane fouling of hl-msbr#
