Cfd simulation of a direct contact membrane distillation (dcmd) desalination system containing a pvdf flat sheet membrane and in a counter-current flow module was performed# a two-dimensional model was used and the governing equations for momentum, heat and mass transfer in the three regions i#e#, feed channel, membrane and permeate channel were solved and corresponding velocity, temperature and concentration fields were obtained and purified water flux through the membrane was calculated# the finite element method was applied for solving the governing equations# the model results were validated with the reported experimental data and a high conformity was observed# the maximum deviation for the outlet concentration and hot outlet temperature with different feed velocities and temperatures was less than 0#35%#
