Abstract
the process of criminal identification through facial recognition involves inputting an image into a program, which then determines the presence of a face and identifies the depicted person. facial recognition technology stands out for criminal identification due to its diverse applications, including traffic control, attendance system registration, monitoring identification cards, securing computer systems, data sources, and e-commerce. the technology can detect faces in static images, video files, and images captured by various sensors. however, facial recognition systems face challenges such as obstructive details, aging in images, variations in brightness, and a limited number of available images. other challenges include changes in facial expressions, emotional states during image capture, and alterations in face angles. this paper aims to achieve face detection through illumination normalization using a torsional neural network algorithm and the rexnext-50 model. it suggests light enhancement in low-light areas without altering the main image portions, addressing challenges related to light intensity. the proposed algorithm enhances light intensity in areas with insufficient light while preserving image edges, followed by the application of a gaussian filter to eliminate noise. the algorithm's performance was evaluated using the caltech faces dataset, indicating a 0.5 percent improvement in face recognition in illumination normalization compared to state-of-the-art papers.
