چکیده    We investigate the fragmentation of the self-gravitating filamentary molecular clouds studying the impact of the magnetic field orientation on their evolution. we assume uniform finite filaments with different total masses classified as thermally critical and supercritical which are pervaded by perpendicular and parallel magnetic field with respect to their major axis. sink particles are formed on the fly as a proxy for dense cores. we find that the filament fragmentation is controlled mainly by its initial mass and the magnetic field orientation. our results show that the parallel magnetic field hinder the fragmentation of the critical and supercritical filaments while the perpendicular one facilitates the process. we also confirmed that the gravitational focusing that took place at the early stage of evolution of all the models, leads to the formation of massive dense cores at the two ends of the filaments.
