جغرافیا به مطالعه و بررسی روند تکامل فضای جغرافیایی می‌پردازد. طبیعت، همواره پویا و متغیر است اما انسان در قامت یک موجود مداخله‌گر، این فرایند را مختل کرده است؛ چراکه خود را موجود برتر روی زمین می‌داند و برای خود حق و حقوقی ویژه قائل است. آیا انسان جزئی از طبیعت است و در جغرافیاست و یا آمده تا سطح کره زمین را آن‌طور که خود می‌پسندد طراحی و دیزاین کند و مسلط‌بودن خود را بر جغرافیا نشان دهد. می‌توان گفت بشر هم جزئی از طبیعت است و هم بر جغرافیا شده است. به‌همین‌خاطر جغرافی‌دان، هدفش بررسی و مطالعة درجازدگی و توسعه‌مندی فضاهای جغرافیایی است. منابع انرژی همة جغرافیاست و برنامه‌ریزی برای حفظ و کاربست این منابع توسط جغرافیدانان صورت می‌گیرد. این منابع، روندهای تکامل را پشتیبانی می‌کنند. این‌طورکه کشورها، مناطق، دولت‌هایی که ذخایر انرژی را درست استفاده و سازماندهی آینده‌نگرانه کردند، به روند تکامل طبیعی و انسانی کمک کردند و برعکس فضاهایی که انرژی‌شان درست مدیریت و بهینه نشد، درجا و برای دیگر نواحی جهان، خطر آفریدند. جغرافیای انرژی یعنی مدیریت هوشمندانه منابع برای انسان کنونی و نسل‌های آینده، به‌نحوی‌که بررسی میزان روشنایی استاندارد برای یک خیابان و توزیع درست روشنایی و خاموشی لازم برای درختان و بوته‌ها، جملگی کار یک جغرافیدان است. انرژی موجود در روی کره زمین و فراتر، مد نظر علم جغرافیاست؛ چراکه منابع از هرنوعی، سبب بقا و پایداری اجتماعی می‌شود و درصورت هدررفت آن، فضای جغرافیایی به‌سمت پژمردگی و میرایی می‌رود.

geography studies and examines the process of evolution of geographical space. nature is always dynamic and variable, but man, as an interfering being, has disrupted this process; because he considers himself the superior being on earth and considers himself to have special rights and privileges. is man a part of nature and is in geography, or has he come to design the surface of the earth as he likes and show his dominance over geography. it can be said that man is both a part of nature and has become a part of geography. for this reason, the geographer’s goal is to examine and study the localization and development of geographical spaces. energy resources are all geography, and planning for the preservation and use of these resources is done by geographers. these resources support the processes of evolution. just as countries, regions, and governments that used energy reserves properly and organized them in a forward-looking manner helped the process of natural and human evolution, spaces whose energy was not properly managed and optimized created a danger on the spot and for other regions of the world. energy geography means intelligent management of resources for current and future generations, in a way that examining the standard lighting level for a street and properly distributing the necessary lighting and blackout for trees and bushes is all the work of a geographer. the energy available on the planet and beyond is considered by the science of geography; because resources of any kind cause survival and social stability, and if they are wasted, the geographical space will wither and die.
