چکیده    This study investigates the effect of a tall building on the performance of the chimney of the short adjoining building located on the boundary between the two buildings. the simulations were carried out for six different cases using ansys based on realizable k- ε turbulent model. in this modeling, at first, the performance of the chimney of an isolated building is evaluated. then simulations are conducted after placing a tall building next to it. and in the end, the problem is assessed after the design changes made to the chimney. results showed that the placement of the neighboring tall building adversely affected the outflow from the chimney. the average mass flow rate of the third and fourth cases had a negative value which indicated the occurrence of downdraft. after design changes made to the chimney, it was found that the average mass flow rate was increased considerably.
