چکیده    Groundwater resources are now more vulnerable than ever mainly owing to both overdrafting and climate change. therefore, it is indispensable to manage these crucial resources and control their extraction. consequently, in this study, a management approach using the dpsir conceptual model framework has been used to introduce optimal groundwater resources management strategies in the najafabad aquifer of iran. the proposed process contains three main phases of identification, conceptualization, and determination of selected policies. the identification phase has been done to determine the main challenge of the region. in the conceptualization phase, both the cause-and-effect relationships and links of the dpsir framework parameters have been discovered, then in the selected policy proposal phase, the recommended scenarios for eliminating the need and remedying the problems of the groundwater system have been presented in form of the dpsir framework responses. discoveries indicate that the main challenge in the najafabad aquifer is the continuous drop of the aquifer, reduction of input volume due to severe climate change in the region, and decline of groundwater level, in succession. as a result, the recommendations were divided into two categories of practical and managerial responses. the former category includes practical responses in the agricultural section to change the policy such as cultivation area, cultivation pattern, agricultural irrigation efficiency, harvest rate, and closure of unauthorized wells. in addition, the latter aiming to counter the effects of climate change includes improving management and training methods, reforming tariffs and quotas, making more effective decisions on the waste-water collection, as well as increasing the level of public awareness, which are highly recommended to be taken into consideration.

Abstract    Groundwater resources are now more vulnerable than ever mainly owing to both overdrafting and climate change.
