The purpose of this study is to explore the universal characteristics of perfect man on the basis of the teachings of shams, a persian-speaking muslim mystic and an iranian wise man who lived in the 13th century. the perfect man is the one who has actualized all his potentials in the best possible manner. he is the most perfect manifestation of god’s names and attributes. he is the mediator for others to receive god’s grace, the fruit of creation, and is the divine vicegerent in the world. some characteristics of a perfect man are as follows: thoughtfulness, intuition, self-knowledge, self-acceptance, perspicacity, generosity and devotion, sacrifice, liberation and independence, originality and creativity, self-reliance, autonomy, independence, altruism and etc. the perfect human is very rare under normal circumstances. but nonetheless, a perfect man is not a platonic example of an imaginary and abstract one. the perfect man can be the purpose of education. anyone can compare himself with perfect man dimensions, make up for their shortcomings and build a better and more complete character.
