چکیده    Muhammad ibn zakariyya al-razi's book, al-sirah al-phalsaphiah is one of the few texts in islamic philosophy that contains philosophical approach to the ethics of animal welfare. in this book, which seeks to explain the philosophical character of a philosopher in various aspects of life, razi sets forth certain moral rules for human interaction with animals, based on philosophical and metaphysical principles. he argued that any harassment and annoyance of sensational creatures, including animals, is considered unreasonable except in exceptional circumstances. now, in the light of current theories and approaches to animal rights and animal welfare, we can reconstruct the razi's theory as an indirect theory of animal ethics which includes the inequality between human being and animals. the implications of razi's ethical theory can be as a new and applicable theory on various animal-related issues like: animal testing, animal abuse in zoos or farms and also military use of animals at war. this essay seeks to address the framework of razi's theory on animal welfare, focusing on animal welfare at war, and it will critically reviews the theory of razi in regard to current theories of animal rights.
