   anthropometric analysis of the upper eyelid in elderly vietnamese women: a comparative study of direct and 3d scanner measurements

چکیده    While upper eyelid surgery is one of the most common procedures among asian women, a significant gap remains in quantitative anthropometric data, especially for elderly vietnamese women. this study aimed to evaluate the agreement and comparability between direct (manual) anthropometric measurements and 3d scanner-derived measurements of the upper eyelid in elderly vietnamese women. as a secondary objective, it sought to explore age-related variation in these parameters. a prospective, cross-sectional study was conducted on 134 vietnamese women aged 50 years and older at e hospital from january to march 2024. anthropometric measurements of the upper eyelid were performed using two distinct methods: a high-precision outside micrometer for direct measurement and a revopoint mini 3d scanner for indirect measurement. the mean age of participants was 70.58±7.83 years. primary analyses demonstrated close agreement between direct and 3d scanner–derived measurements across most upper eyelid parameters, with paired tests showing no significant differences, high intraclass correlation coefficients, and small bland–altman mean biases. secondary analyses revealed significant age-related differences in inner canthal distance (en–en), outer canthal distance (ex–ex), and palpebral fissure length (en–ex) (p<0.05).  the findings indicate a high degree of comparability between the two methods, supporting the feasibility of 3d scanning as an objective alternative to direct measurement. age-related morphological changes were also documented as secondary outcomes.
