چکیده    Crispr-cas9 genome editing has emerged as a revolutionary technology in plant biotechnology, offering unparalleled precision in genetic modifications to tackle the most pressing challenges in agriculture. this review provides a thorough analysis of recent advancements in crispr-cas9 applications aimed at enhancing plant growth, stress resilience, yield potential, and nutritional quality. a detailed examination of successful case studies is presented across key crops, including tomato, rice, wheat, and soybean, demonstrating crispr-cas9's potential in applications such as extending fruit shelf life, improving disease resistance, and optimizing grain traits. the review delves into critical technological developments, such as optimized delivery systems, multiplex editing strategies, and the generation of transgene-free edited plants. additionally, the current challenges are assessed, including off-target effects, editing efficiency in polyploid species, and regulatory hurdles. by integrating cutting-edge research with practical applications, this review establishes crispr-cas9 as a pivotal tool for sustainable agriculture, with the capability to produce climate-resilient, high-yielding crop varieties essential for global food security amid climate change and a growing population. furthermore, this review is among the first to link and assess crispr-cas9 in conjunction with the nqs index and sustainable development goals, providing a comprehensive evaluation of future directions and the challenges of this transformative technology.
