چکیده    Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a commensal bacteria, and the infection can be fatal, especially in immunocompromised patients. royal jelly has been utilized globally as both a traditional remedy and a nutrient; however, the effect on p. aeruginosa is unclear. this study aims to investigate the protective effect of royal jelly in p. aeruginosa-stimulated hela cells. hela cells were used in this experimental work as a model to mimic oral epithelial cells. to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of royal jelly against p. aeruginosa, hela cells were pretreated with royal jelly before bacterial exposure. the mrna expression was quantified using the relative quantification method (2-∆∆ct) and converted into log2 fold change. the data collected were analyzed using one-way anova and games-howell parametric analysis (p < 0.05). pre-treatment for 30 minutes with various concentrations of royal jelly extract significantly inhibited the overproduction of nfat1 inflammatory mediators in a dose-dependent manner. this inhibitory effect on nfat1 was similar to that on nf-κb, tnf-α, il-6, and il-8. the results demonstrated that pre-treatment with royal jelly extract can protect hela cells from excessive inflammatory responses against p. aeruginosa infection.
