The objective of this study was to assess the competence and safety of transversus abdominis plane blocks tap versus lidocaine infusion for postoperative healing and pain management following laparoscopic cholecystectomy lc. a total of 100 patients receiving elective lc at al-zahraa university hospital, al-azhar university, participated in the study; they were randomly allocated with sealed envelopes into two groups of 50: tap and lid and were blind to the procedure's method and the individuals assisting with the outcomes. tap group: after inducing anesthesia, 20 ml of isobaric marcaine 0.25% was administered bilaterally in the transverse abdominal plane. lid group: 1.5 mg/kg loading dose was given first, followed by a continuous intravenous lidocaine infusion of 2 mg/kg/h throughout the whole surgical process, which was discontinued afterward. significantly reduced surgical pain perception scores, total nsaid dosage, postoperative recovery, and intraoperative serum il-6 levels were all observed in the tap group. additionally, compared to the lid group, the tap group experienced fewer surgical complications and shorter hospital stay. compared to lidocaine infusion, the tap provides enhanced postoperative recovery and improved pain control following laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
