parp-1 expression in serous ovarian carcinoma: histological grade association and therapeutic insights

Parp-1, a dna repair enzyme, is increasingly recognized as a therapeutic target in ovarian cancer. however, its expression profile across histological grades remains underexplored. to assess the association between parp-1 expression, tumor grade, and patient age in serous ovarian carcinoma.  a cross-sectional study was conducted on ffpe samples evaluated immunohistochemically for parp-1 expression using h-score analysis. for statistical analysis, chi-square and mann–whitney u tests were used (p < 0.05).  parp-1 expression was significantly higher in high-grade tumors (p = 0.044). younger patients (<50 years) were more likely to present with low-grade tumors (p = 0.008). high parp-1 levels were associated with tumor aggressiveness (or = 2.389). parp-1 overexpression correlates with high-grade histology and may serve as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic indicator. patient age appears relevant for tumour stratification.
