comparative study of fibroblasts density in reconstruction of trachea defects with aponeurosis patch of external oblicus muscle and dry amnion membrane (a study with new zealand rabbits)

Reconstruction of tracheal defects resulting from pathologies such as trauma or neoplasia remains a significant challenge for surgeons. dry amnion membrane (dam) has been recognized as a promising scaffold material for tissue engineering. this study aims to compare fibroblast expression in rabbits undergoing tracheal reconstruction with a patch of external oblique muscle aponeurosis, with and without dam. using a randomized control trial, 36 male new zealand rabbits were acclimatized and divided into two groups: one receiving the aponeurosis patch alone, and the other with added dam. after 14 days, fibroblast expression was measured. the results showed a significant increase in fibroblast expression in the group with dam (p = 0.001). furthermore, this study demonstrated the dam potential in enhancing fibroblast proliferation and improving tracheal reconstruction outcomes.
