case series of labial synechiae in the urogynecology outpatient clinic at dr. soetomo general academic hospital, surabaya, 2019-2024

Labial synechiae, or labial adhesion, is a common finding in prepubertal girls. in our case series, we have 8 patients: 2 patients (25%) in the prepubertal age group and 6 patients (75%) in the reproductive age group. among the reproductive-aged patients, 3 had labial synechiae due to birth canal lacerations following vaginal delivery, with poor perineal hygiene, especially after perineorrhaphy. the clinical manifestations varied: 37.5% of patients complained of urinary issues, 50% had difficulty with intercourse, and 12.5% were asymptomatic. one patient used estrogen cream for therapy, while 9 patients underwent operative therapy. treatment for labial synechiae depends on the type of synechiae and the presence of symptoms.
