mapping trends and hotspots in short qt syndrome research: a bibliometric analysis

Short qt syndrome (sqts) is a rare inherited cardiac disease linked to arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. this study aimed to provide a comprehensive analysis of global scientific production and identify hotspots in sqts research. it also provided valuable insights into emerging trends and future directions in this area. data were collected from the scopus database on october 23, 2024, covering publications from 2000 to 2024. a bibliometric analysis was conducted using google sheets, the r package bibliometrix (biblioshiny), and vosviewer (version 1.6.20). this analysis included 680 publications, examining trends in scientific publications, the distribution of source journals and countries, author contributions, influential articles, and keywords. the trend of scientific publications on sqts initially increased but has shown a decline in recent years. the united states has contributed the most to the publication output. keyword analysis revealed research hotspots, the evolution of research trends, and areas that still require further investigation. recent studies have examined the application of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hipsc-cms), which provide a deeper understanding of the pathophysiology and hold promising potential for developing precision medicine for sqts. however, the sqts rarity presents challenges, underscoring the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration to address knowledge gaps and enhance patient outcomes.
