This study examines the relationship between male reproductive hormone concentrations and seminal plasma biochemical levels in infertile males. this study employs a cross-sectional design, utilizing consecutive sampling of infertile male patients undergoing treatment at the andrology outpatient clinic at dr. soetomo academic hospital, spanning from september 2022 to july 2023. levels of reproductive hormones (fsh, lh, and testosterone) and seminal plasma biochemicals (zinc, fructose, and neutral alpha-glucosidase) were quantified in each sample. spearman’s correlation was utilized to analyze the relationships among these factors. the study included 47 participants, with 31.9% demonstrating azoospermia. the majority of participants were aged 26 to 30 years, comprising 51.1% of the total. neutral alpha-glucosidase had a normal distribution (p=0.2), but fsh, lh, testosterone, zinc, and fructose did not conform to a normal distribution. positive albeit statistically insignificant associations were seen between fsh and zinc (r=0.085, p=0.570), fructose (r=0.076, p=0.705), and neutral alpha-glucosidase (r=0.036, p=0.808). lh demonstrated a positive yet insignificant correlation with zinc (r=0.074, p=0.619), fructose (r=0.257, p=0.081), and neutral alpha-glucosidase (r=0.058, p=0.697). testosterone demonstrated a positive although non-significant association with zinc (r=0.197, p=0.185) and fructose (r=0.150, p=0.315), while it displayed an opposite and insignificant correlation with neutral alpha-glucosidase (r=-0.038, p=0.800). in conclusion, the majority of parameters exhibited positive relationships between male reproductive hormone levels and seminal plasma biochemical indicators, with the exception of testosterone and neutral alpha-glucosidase, which displayed a non-significant negative connection in infertile males.
