The article presented the results of a comprehensive study to evaluate the use of elastography for diagnosis of thyroid disorders, focusing on autoimmune pathologies such as graves’ disease and hashimoto’s thyroiditis. various modifications of elastography, including shear wave elastography and compression elastography, were utilized. a comparative analysis of thyroid tissue stiffness was conducted in 48 patients with autoimmune thyroid diseases (28 with hashimoto’s thyroiditis and 20 with graves’ disease) and 40 healthy volunteers serving as controls. it was found that the stiffness of thyroid tissue in patients with autoimmune diseases was, on average, 67% higher than that of healthy controls, with significant correlations observed between tissue stiffness and levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (tsh) as well as anti-thyroperoxidase (at-tpo) antibody titers. an algorithm was developed for differential diagnosis based on quantitative assessment of tissue stiffness. the study revealed that combining conventional ultrasound with elastography increased diagnostic accuracy by 25% compared to traditional ultrasound alone, which had a baseline diagnostic accuracy of 72%. while the method showed promise in reducing the need for invasive interventions and shortening diagnostic time, specific cost-effectiveness data was not analyzed in this study. the introduction of elastography optimized the diagnostic process, reducing the number of repeated examinations by 28%. the high sensitivity (89%) and specificity (91%) of elastography highlighted its potential as a valuable complementary diagnostic tool in the clinical setting.
