vulvar hematoma at dr. soetomo general acadmic hospital, surabaya, for the 2023-2024 period

Vulvar hematoma occurs due to the rupture of arterial blood vessels, leading to hemorrhage. while it can arise during pregnancy, it more commonly occurs in the postpartum period. obstetric trauma is the primary factor contributing to vulvar hematoma. although it is a well-known obstetric complication, vulvar hematoma may also develop due to non-obstetric causes. despite its rarity, vulvar hematoma can be a life-threatening condition if left undiagnosed and untreated. in this report, we describe three cases of vulvar hematoma at dr. soetomo general academic hospital, surabaya, during the 2023-2024 period. the management of postpartum vulvar hematoma following vaginal delivery remains controversial, and no established consensus governs its treatment. the choice of therapy depends on the patient’s condition upon arrival, including the size of the hematoma, hemodynamic stability, available resources, and medical expertise.  clear protocols would help ensure consistent and effective care, reduce variability in clinical decisions, and optimize patient outcomes.
