psychiatric liaison approach and resilience in multi drug resistant tuberculosis (mdr-tb) patient: a case report

Psychosocial stressors that occur among drug resistant tuberculosis (dr-tb) patients may lead to psychological furthermore psychiatric problems. resilience is needed to adapt to stressful situation including medical procedures and psychosocial impact of the dr-tb itself. this case reports how high resilience helped dr-tb patient cope with his life situation. the patient is a 24-year-old male adult who just completed drug sensitive tuberculosis (ds-tb) treatment about 7 months ago but currently was suffering from mdr-tb and plans to undergo mdr-tb treatment for another 1 year with the risk of symptoms and drug side effects that are more severe than ds-tb treatment. unexpectedly, the patient had a good response to the stressful situations. with good resilience, individuals can deal with stressful situations in life well, remain motivated and hopeful for the future.
