mindfulness intervention on aggressiveness of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder adolescent

Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (adhd) is a neurobehavioral disorder marked by symptoms of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. it is typically identified in childhood and often continues into adulthood. adolescents with adhd symptoms frequently display aggressive behaviours, which necessitate effective intervention. this study aimed to evaluate the impact of mindfulness intervention on reducing aggressiveness in adolescents with adhd. thirty-eight junior high school students participated, divided into a control group (n=14) and a treatment group (n=24). the treatment group underwent an 8-week mindfulness program, consisting of 120-minute sessions once a week. aggressiveness was evaluated using the buss–perry aggression questionnaire (bpaq) at both the start and end of the intervention. the findings indicated a significant decrease in aggressiveness in the treatment group (p < 0.05), while no significant changes was noted in the control group. in addition, no side effects were reported during the intervention. in conclusion, an 8-week mindfulness program significantly reduced aggressiveness in adolescents exhibiting adhd symptoms, suggesting mindfulness as a promising intervention for managing aggression in this population.
