variation of carcinoembryonic antigen (cea) level in colorectal carcinoma patients in pre-post resection and chemotherapy

Colorectal carcinoma is  the most common disease reported at the west nusa tenggara indonesia. cea is a glycoprotein that is  produced in pathological conditions. this study aims to assess the differences in cea level at each stage of therapy in patients undergoing adjuvant and neo-adjuvant chemotherapy. this study is an analytic observational study with a crosssectional research design. the study sample included 28 patients and with wilcoxon and mann-whitney tests. there was a statistical significant difference between mean pre-resection cea and post-resection cea (p=0.001). there was a significant difference between the mean cea pre-adjuvant chemotherapy and cea post-adjuvant chemotherapy (p=0.020). there was also a difference in the mean cea before neo-adjuvant chemotherapy  and cea after neo-adjuvant chemotheray. there was a significant difference in the cea post adjuvant chemotherapy and the cea of post neo-adjuvant chemotherapy (p=0.029). based on this study, it was found that the pattern of decreasing the average cea level in each method of therapy. there were significant differences in pre- and post-resection cea, pre- and post-adjuvant chemotherapy, post-adjuvant chemotherapy and post-neo-adjuvant chemotherapy, which were significant in colorectal carcinoma patients undergoing chemotherapy with the mfolfox-7 regimen at the west nusa tenggara regional hospital.
