چکیده    Platelet-rich plasma (prp) is an autologous concentrated platelet preparation that could be helpful in the medical care of atrophic acne scars by stimulating collagen synthesis. skin micro-needling is a method in which a sterile puncture of the skin leads to the release of growth factors. the combination of skin micro-needling with prp may improve the efficacy of both procedures. the objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness and safety of prp as a monotherapy for atrophic acne scars with those of micro-needling with prp. forty-eight patients with atrophic acne scars were randomly assigned to two equal groups: group a received an intradermal injection of prp, and group b was treated with combined skin needling and prp. each participant underwent three months of therapy (four sessions at 1-month intervals). the participants were evaluated before and 3 months after therapy using photography, the goodman and baron qualitative grading approach, participants’ satisfaction, and local biopsies. group b demonstrated a significant improvement over group a by employing all of the approaches outlined above. the results showed that the combination of micro-needling and prp produces higher results across all assessment methodologies. there were no statistically significant differences in side effects between our treatment regimens. although a single therapeutic procedure involving locally injected prp gives good results in the management of atrophic post-acne scars, combining micro-needling with prp is more effective. however, both treatments are well-tolerated in all types of atrophic acne scars.
