non-contact electric fields’ effect on tnf-a in glioblastoma cell line: an experimental study

Glioblastoma is a malignant neoplasm of the central nervous system with an abysmal prognosis despite maximum standard therapy. electro-capacitive cancer therapy (ecct) is a non-contact electric field therapy popularized in indonesia. this study aims to explore the effect of ecct on tnf-a level in glioblastoma cell line in vitro as a representation of inflammatory response. this study was done by exposing an non-contact electric field to the u87-mg cell line at three electricity doses (10, 30, and 50 peak-to-peak voltage (vpp)) and time (24, 48, and 72 hours). tnf-a was examined using western blot after exposure. tnf-a level in the u87-mg cell line raised after 24 hours of exposure, despite not being statistically significant. after 24 hours, tnf-a level gradually decreased over time.
