چکیده    Vitamin d is one of the important variables that have been studied in various diseases and disorders. there is limited research on the association between vitamin d and herpes zoster, and further investigation is needed in this area. this study is a descriptive cross-sectional study. the study population consists of patients hospitalized with herpes zoster. patient information was recorded on a checklist. blood samples were then collected and transferred to the laboratory for vitamin d level determination. the indirect elisa technique was used to measure serum vitamin d levels, and the data were analyzed using spss software version 26. a total of 19 samples were included in the study, with a mean age of 54.86 years, and the majority (57.89%) were over 60 years old. most participants were female (69.37%) and had a body mass index (bmi) between 25-30 (42.1%). ten percent of the participants were smokers, and 5% consumed alcohol. approximately 31.6% used vitamin d supplements. most participants had high exposure to sunlight (52.6%). no significant correlation was observed between vitamin d levels and age, gender, comorbidity, smoking, sun exposure, and body mass index in patients with herpes zoster. according to the findings of this study, none of the examined patients had a deficiency or insufficient level of vitamin d, and all had sufficient levels. vitamin d showed no association with the variables under investigation, indicating a need for further studies with larger sample sizes and longer observation periods in this area.
