Digital Escapism

With increased time-spent on internet based gaming and recreational applications, there is now a new trend of digital escapism, along with private space in the virtual world. when we talk about escapism, sometimes it carries feelings of guilt in mind. excessive use of the internet, mostly for pleasure, leads to ‘internet-addiction’. it in turn leads to psychological disorders. it creates “internet disorder syndrome” or “digital escapism” which invites stress, depression, deviation from own goal, sleeplessness and anxiety. this conceptual paper examines the gravity of such addiction and the nature and types of digital escapism. this paper observes that, the users, when addicted, would always love to live online and leave reality.
