چکیده

The examination of the biocompatibility and stability of zinc oxide nanoparticles (znonps) synthesized from plants is a significant area of research in nanotechnology due to its widespread applications in biomedical, industrial, cell imaging, and biosensor fields. this study introduces a novel approach for producing stable znonps utilizing zinc nitrate and extracts from lagerstroemia speciosa leaves as a proficient chelating agent. the cytotoxic and antiproliferative effects of the lagerstroemia speciosa mediated synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles (ls-znonps) on human breast cancer cell lines were evaluated using several assays. the synthesized ls-znonps were characterized using several spectroscopic and microscopic methods. the mtt assay was employed to assess the cytotoxic effects of znonps on mcf-7 cells. the apoptotic potential was evaluated with a fluorescence microscopy approach. the uv-vis spectroscopy investigation revealed an absorption peak at a wavelength of 261 nm. the efficacy of bioactive compounds from lagerstroemia speciosa in stabilizing ls-znonps was confirmed using x-ray diffraction and fourier transform infrared analysis. the dls tests indicated an average size of 60 nano-meters and a zeta potential of -8.5 mv. the scanning electron microscopy (sem) examinations revealed that the particle exhibited a spindle shape. the biosynthesized ls-znonps demonstrated considerable antibacterial efficacy. moreover, the biosynthesized ls-znonps demonstrated significant cytotoxic effects on mcf-7 breast cancer cell lines in a dose-dependent manner. in conclusion, the ls-znonps were synthesized using a dependable, straightforward, and eco-friendly approach utilizing an extract from lagerstroemia speciosa leaves. the biosynthesized ls-znonps demonstrated significant cytotoxicity against metastatic breast cancer cell line.
