ملاحظاتی در باب عطاملک جوینی و تاریخ‌نگاری او

تاریخ جهانگشای نوشتۀ علاءالدین عطاملک جوینی (623-681ق)، اثری کم ‌مانند در تاریخ‌نگاری و ادبیات فارسی است که پژوهش‌های پرشماری را به خود اختصاص داده است. با وجود این، همچنان پرسش ‌ها و ابهاماتی درباره جهانگشای و نویسنده آن وجود دارد. مقالۀ حاضر که به جوینی به‌عنوان مورّخی سیاستمدار نگریسته و او را بر اساس الزامات این حرفه نقد کرده است، به برخی از این پرسش ها پاسخ می دهد. یافته های مقاله نشان می دهد که سبب نپرداختن جوینی به رخدادهای پس از فروپاشی اسماعیلیه، نه افزایش اشتغال یا فرصت نداشتن وی، بلکه محذورات سیاسی و اعتقادی او بوده است. بخش دیگری از یافته های مقاله، مجعول بودن دو تبارنامۀ جوینی را آشکار می‌نماید و گمانه‌هایی دربارۀ سرچشمۀ نام تاریخ جهانگشای و نیز طرح جوینی برای نگارش تاریخی عمومی به کمک دیگران  را مطرح می ‌کند.

remarks concerning atāmalek juvayni and his historiography

the tarikh-e jahāngoshāy  (history of the world-conqueror) written by atamalek of juvayn (623-681 h/1226-1282 ce), is a rare work in historiography and persian literature,  to which a large number of scholarly studies have been devoted. nonetheless, there are still quite a few queries and uncertainties about the book and its author.the present article, which looks at juvayni as a political historian and judges him with respect to his professional restraints, provides answers to some of these questions. the findings of this study indicate that the reason for juvayni failing to address the events following the collapse of the ismailis was hardly an increase in his occupational burden and lack of time, but was mainly due to his political and ideological inhibitions.  another part of our findings reveals the fabrication of juvayn’s two genealogical records and suggests several conjectures as to the origin of the title of the tarikh-e jahāngoshāy. and juvayni’s plan to author a general history in collaboration with others.
