عطرهای مرکب در جواهر الطیب المفرده: بازشناسی عطرنامۀ منسوب به ابن‌ماسویه و محتوای آن

امروزه، دست‌نویس‌هایی با عنوان جواهر الطیب المفرده باسمائها وصفاتها ومعادنها به ابن‌ماسویه منسوب است که در کتاب‌شناسی‌های کهن از آن یاد نشده است. شباهت میان شرح عطرهای مفرده (غیر ترکیبی) در این اثر و نقل‌هایی از ابن‌ماسویه نشان می‌دهد که از دیرباز، کتابی در این باب به ابن‌ماسویه منسوب بوده که البته محتوای آن بیشتر به‌واسطۀ کتاب عطرشناسی به نام خُشّکی نقل شده است. برخی دست‌نویس‌های این اثر، بخشی دربارۀ دستور ساخت عطرهای ترکیبی در بر دارند. گرچه از ابن‌ماسویه و به‌ویژه «کتاب ابن‌ماسویه» نقل‌هایی بیشتر در این باب در دست داریم اما از این میان تنها یک نقل، آن‌هم فقط در یکی از دست‌نویس‌های جواهر الطیب، به چشم می‌خورد. چه‌بسا این بخش از رساله به‌تمامی به دست ما نرسیده باشد. برخی دستورهای این دست‌نویس‌ها نیز، بی‌یادکرد نام ابن‌ماسویه، در آثار دیگر به‌ویژه در اثر عطرشناسی کندی، تکرار شده است که شاید نشانۀ بهره‌گیری این دو از منابع مشترک باشد.

Aromatic compounds in Jawāhir alṬīb alMufrada: Identifying A Work on Aromatics Ascribed to Ibn Masawayh and Its Contents

There are several copies of a treatise entitled Jawāhir alṬīb alMufrada bi Asmā’ihā wa Ṣifātihā wa Ma’ādinihā attributed to Ibn Masawayh, which have not been mentioned in the old biobibliographies. The resemblance between the descriptions of simple aromatics in this work and certain citations? from Ibn Masawayh indicates that since long a book on the subject had been ascribed to Ibn Masawayh, the contents of which have mainly been imported through Khoshshaki’s book of aromatics. A section of some of the manuscripts of this work contains recipes for compound aromatics. Although we have many citations available from Ibn Masawayh, especially from “Ibn Masawayh’s Book”, only one citation can be seen in one of the MSS of the Jawāher alṬīb. It may well be that this section of the book has not reached us in its entirety. Some of the recipes in these MSS, have been repeated in other works, with no mention of Ibn Masawayh’s name, especially in Kindī’s book on aromatics, this being probably an indication of the use by these two from common sources.
