چکیده
|
در این مقاله نخست، شیوه تاریخ‌نگاری حال‌محور علم معرفی شده است؛ معیار، نقطه آغاز و نقطه پایان این گونه تاریخ‌نگاری، نظریه‌های «علمیِ» کنونی می‌باشد. از دیدگاه نگارنده، مقابله ویژگی‌های علوم پیشین با علم کنونی می‌تواند محک مناسبی در آزمون کارآمدی این شیوه باشد. بدین ترتیب، کیمیا به عنوان یک علم طبیعی در سده‌های گذشته لحاظ و به واکاوی کیمیای حسن بن زاهد کرمانی پرداخته می شود. آنگاه، برخی موضوعات محوری کیمیا را استخراج کرده، آنها را در مواجهه با برخی ویژگی‌های بنیادی علم مدرن و نیز مفروضات اساسی تاریخ‌نگاری حال‌محور قرار می‌دهیم.نتیجه آنکه، تفاوت‌های علم کیمیا با علم مدرن چنان بنیادی و شباهت‌های آن دو چنان اندک است که نمی‌توان، به رغم ادعای تاریخ‌نگاری حال‌محور، کیمیا را یک «پیش‌تاریخ» برای شیمی دانست. در بازسازی تاریخ علم به نحو عام، و تاریخ کیمیا به نحو خاص، باید با دیدگاهی جامع‌نگرانه، چنان عمل کرد که مباحث گسترده نظری و عملی آن، وجوه مختلف کار با مواد، فرآیندهای عملی، و نیز زبان معمایی، رمزی و باطنی کیمیا و البته مسائل انسانی و اجتماعی مرتبط با آن، به همراه یکدیگر ملاحظه شود.

Assessment of presentist Historiography of Science by Hassan Ibn Zāhid`s Alchemy

Abstract
|
In this paper, first, Presentist historiography of science is introduced. The present scientific theories constitute the criteria of the original point and also the final point of this historiography method. In our opinion, the comparative study of the traditional and modern sciences can be used as a suitable criterion to estimate the validity of this method. So, we consider alchemy as a natural science in the past periods, and analyze briefly an alchemical work of Hassan Ibn Zāhid Kermāni. We extract some fundamental principles of alchemy and compare them with some essential bases of modern science, as well as with some presuppositions of presentist historiography. As the result, alchemy shows great and fundamental differences with modern science, and hence, with the bases of mentioned historiography; one can't, therefore, consider alchemy as the prehistory of chemistry. We believe that in the procedure of reconstructing history of science, especially the case of alchemy, its theoretical topics, practical aspects and different processes, as well as its hermetic, symbolic and esoteric language, all should be seen from a holistic point of view
