پدیده سیندمیک (syndemic) به هم‌زمانی و تعامل چند اپیدمی در یک جمعیت اشاره دارد که اثرات یکدیگر را تشدید کرده و بار بیماری و نابرابری‌های سلامت را افزایش می‌دهند. سیندمیک‌ها نه‌تنها نتیجه هم‌ابتلایی زیستی، بلکه بازتاب ساختارهای اجتماعی ناعادلانه همچون فقر، تبعیض و نابرابری جنسیتی‌اند. رویکرد سیندمیک با تاکید بر پیوند میان عوامل زیستی، اجتماعی و محیطی، فراتر از الگوهای تک‌بعدی عمل کرده و بر لزوم مداخلات جامع در سطوح بهداشتی، اقتصادی و سیاسی تاکید دارد. تجربه کووید-19 نشان داد که درک و مدیریت بیماری‌ها بدون توجه به زمینه‌های اجتماعی امکان‌پذیر نیست. در نتیجه، اتخاذ دیدگاه سیندمیک می‌تواند راهی موثر برای ارتقای عدالت و تاب‌آوری نظام‌های سلامت فراهم سازد.
