Professor howard thomas was born on 31st july 1945 in wales, united kingdom. he obtained a bsc degree with honours in physiology at newcastle university in 1966 and continued with his mbbs studies, graduating in 1969. he also obtained a phd in medicine from glasgow university in 1974. he started his career in hepatology as welcome senior fellow in clinical sciences in 1978 and soon became titular professor of medicine at the royal free hospital medical school of london university, in 1984...
