Isolated Lacrimal Gland Tuberculosis: A Case Report

Purpose: to report a patient with orbital tuberculosis (tb) without any history of systemic involvementcase report: a 41-year-old afghani man who presented with progressive painless swelling in lateral side of the left upper eyelid and diplopia. he did not have history of fever or pulmonary disease. histopathology revealed a granulomatous inflammation with caseation necrosis. microbiological studies for finding acid-fast bacilli and polymerase chain reaction (pcr) results were negative. the patient completely responded to a course of anti-tuberculous treatment. conclusion: although tuberculous dacryoadenitis is a very rare manifestation of tb, it is still important to recognize this presentation, specially when patient originating from endemic area.
