Euphemism in Arabic : Typology and Formation

The study starts with a theoretical review of euphemism in language in general . it presents definition, etymology and purpose of euphemism . it also sheds light on the linguistic and cultural elation of euphemism to other linguistic phenomena such as taboo, double speak and dysphemism. formation and classification of euphemism are also highlighted . in the practical side of the study , some selected related examples of arabic (standard and colloquial of iraq and some other arab countries ) are analyzed . the researher, finally , summarizes, in 12 oints, his conclusions about euphemism in arabic as revealed by the results of the anaylysis
