چکیده    “there are certain common types of consonantal sequences which have special names in the phonetic literature and some of which function as single units in particular languages. all of the special sequences… are homorganic, that is, they are articulated by the same organs. the first special sequence type… is known as geminate (from the latin geminare ‘to double’, geminus ‘twin’)” catford (1988:111)
