چکیده
|
beings usually learn to listen and speak before they learn to read and write. there is an important relationship between an oral language and its written form, for print depends upon the priorexistence of speech. lado (1964:131) declares that reading and writing skills depend upon the establishment of associative relations between symbols and meaning. thus, the relationship between language and thought is important to the development of reading skill, for reading is thinking. when students who speak other languages are reading in english, they may have some difficulty in using the foreign language as an effective association of thought. hence, the reading process requires of the learners to develop habits, get motivated, and have practice and over- learning, so that their responses to written language may become as automatic as their responses to the spoken form of it.
