This article is the last of a threepart series narrating a brief history of breast cancer that has traced the attempts by physicians to understand and conquer this disease since antiquity.2,3 the series chronicles the millennia during which crude and desperate surgery-only measures gave way to an understanding of the pathobiology of this hormone-responsive cancer.
