Between the earliest recorded greek and roman philosophical theories of medicine and the dynamic spurt in medical discoveries in western civilizations from the 17th century onwards lies an era of relative obscurity in medical advancements, running parallel with the islamic conquest of europe; an era which deserves due recognition.
