تعامل نظام اخلاقی و روایت شناسی در رمان: روایت‌شناسی اخلاق گرایانه در رمان خدای چیزهای کوچک اثر ارونداتی روی

در مقالۀ حاضر، با استفاده از روش کیفی توصیفی به بررسی سنجه‌های اخلاقی تنیده در شگردهای روایی رمان خدای چیزهای کوچک، اثر نویسندۀ هندی ‌ارونداتی روی، پرداخته شده است. چارچوب نظری مطالعه از دو بخش روایت‌شناسی و فلسفۀ اخلاق تشکیل شده است. بر این اساس، نظریۀ روایت‌شناسی بلاغی جیمز فیلان برای بررسی شگردهای روایت و فلسفۀ اخلاق چارلز تیلور برای ارزیابی مفاهیم اخلاقی رمان برگزیده شده است تا مفاهیم اخلاقی معاصر در ساختار روایت بررسی شود. فیلان داوری‌های اخلاقی را رابطۀ پویای میان موقعیت اخلاقی گفتن و گفته می‌داند؛ به این صورت که اخلاقِ گفته، یعنی ابعاد اخلاقی کنش میان شخصیت‌ها، در کنار اخلاق گفتن، یعنی شگردهای روایت، کارکرد بلاغی روایت را شکل می‌دهد. نویسندگان مقاله به این پرسش پاسخ داده‌اند که نویسندۀ روایت ادبی چگونه درک اخلاقی مخاطب را با شیوه‌های روایت‌پردازی عمق می‌بخشد. نتیجۀ پژوهش نشان می‌دهد اصلی‌ترین سنجه‌های اخلاقی که روی به آن‌ها توجه داشته، مفاهیم مربوط به اصالت هویت و ضرورت اعتباربخشی به دیگری است. تجلی غیاب امر اخلاقی در خرده‌روایت‌های متعدد در کنار استفاده از ابعاد زبانی روایت، اخلاق گفته را به‌نمایش می‌گذارد. از سوی دیگر استفاده از روایت غیرخطی و نیز شگرد کانونی‌سازی به نویسنده این امکان را داده تا از طریق اخلاق گفتن در بیانی زیبایی‌شناسانه، گفتمان اخلاقی خود را به مخاطب منتقل کند.

the present study aims to investigate the ethical values of the narrative strategies in the god of small things, by the indian author arundhati roy. the theoretical framework includes narratology and ethical philosophy and aims to illustrate how the ethics are communicated by the narrative techniques and rhetorical devices. this investigation relies primarily on james phelan’s narrative theory and charles taylor’s philosophy of ethics. phelan considers the novel’s ethical judgments through ‘ethics of the told’ and ‘ethics of the telling.’ ethics of the told revolves around the ethical dimensions of the characters’ choices and interactions, while ethics of the telling considers ‘text-internal’ issues and the ethical significance of the narrative techniques. the ethical issues are related to the concept of authenticity and the necessity of recognition. ethics of the told is shown in roy’s use of micro-narratives which reflect the absence of the ethical issue, besides the linguistic creativities against the monopoly of the standard language. on the other hand, the use of non-linear narration and focalization forms ethics of the telling, by which the ethical discourse is conveyed to the readers aesthetically.
