a comparative study of leadership style in islamic azad universities of iran and canadian universities

The aim of research was to compare leadership style in islamic azad universities of iran and canadian universities. a comparative research method with a mixed approach was used. the data collection tool in the qualitative phase was a semi-structured interview, using the snowball technique and based on the saturation law, 19 experts from the studied universities were selected. in the quantitative phase, the statistical population included all the faculty members of these universities, 250 of whom were selected by simple random sampling. also, a researcher-made questionnaire based on qualitative phase result was used to collect data. qualitative data analysis was done by analyzing the content of the interviews, coding and extracting codes and categories and identifying their relationship. in this way, 72 concepts are classified in the form of 15 categories under the four styles of transformational, structural, servant and visionary leadership. the findings showed that canadian universities are more inclined towards transformational, visionary and servant leadership styles, while in islamic azad universities of iran; more tendencies towards structural leadership style is shown. according to the findings, it is recommended to policy-makers of higher education in iran, to pay attention to the application of various leadership styles.

بررسی تطبیقی سبک رهبری در دانشگاه های آزاد اسلامی ایران و دانشگاه های کانادا

هدف پژوهش حاضر، بررسی تطبیقی سبک رهبری در دانشگاه های آزاد اسلامی ایران و دانشگاه های کانادا بود. در این پژوهش، از روش تطبیقی با رویکرد ترکیبی (کیفی-کمی) استفاده شد. ابزار جمع آوری داده ها در فاز کیفی ، مصاحبه نیمه ساختاریافته با 19 صاحب نظر در دانشگاه های منتخب بود که با بهره گیری از تکنیک گلوله برفی و بر اساس قانون اشباع نظری انتخاب شدند . در مرحله کمی برای جمع آوری داده از پرسشنامه محقق ساخته استفاده شد . جامعه آماری شامل کارکنان و اعضای هیئت‌علمی دانشگاه‌های موردمطالعه بود که از بین آنها 250 نفر به روش نمونه گیری تصادفی ساده انتخاب شده اند. تجزیه وتحلیل داده های کیفی از طریق تحلیل محتوی مصاحبه ها، کدگذاری ، استخراج کدها و مقوله ها و شناسایی ارتباط آن‌ها انجام شد ( 72 مفهوم در قالب 15 مقوله در ذیل چهار سبک رهبری تحول گرا، ساختارساز، خدمتگزار و بصیر ). برای بررسی میزان توجه دانشگاه به سبک های رهبری از آزمون t تک نمونه ای و برای بررسی رابطه بین مقوله های  سبک های رهبری از تحلیل عاملی تاییدی استفاده شد. براساس نتایج ، مدل ارزیابی سازه های سبک های رهبری دانشگاه های منتخب از برازش مناسب برخوردار بود. هم چنین یافته ها نشان داد دانشگاه های کانادایی بیشتر به سبک های رهبری تحول گرا، بصیر و خدمت‌گزار گرایش دارند در حالی که مدیران دانشگاه آزاد اسلامی به سبک رهبری ساختارساز بیشتر تمایل نشان می دهند
