چکیده
|
Oil palm leaves, which are a by-product of the pruning process, are successfully used as a precursor of silica in the reaction with magnesium nitrate at a calcination temperature of 900 °c. based on the products characterization using xrd and supported by ftir, this technique produces mgo, mgsio₃, and mg₂sio₄ derivatives in powder form. the as-prepared powder used in the adsorption process of congo red, which is a dye substance that is toxic to the environment. the as-prepared material was able to adsorb congo red in an ideal equilibrium time of 120 minutes with an average final concentration of 10.21 mg/l. the adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second order. the adsorption process follows the temkin isotherm model, with a linear regression value close to 1. the results of this adsorption indicate that derivative products have the potential to adsorb dye waste, which has a great effect on life in water. in addition, the potential for the use of oil palm leaves is urgently needed in the development of new materials as adsorbents while reducing waste in nature.
